North Burnett Regional Council is now calling for nominations for the 2017 Australia Day Awards from clubs, organisations and individuals within each of the six North Burnett Communities of Biggenden, Eidsvold, Gayndah, Monto, Mount Perry and Mundubbera.

By extending the nomination period from October to June, North Burnett residents now have the opportunity to nominate deserving recipients for the Australia Day Awards throughout the year.  Community members are encouraged to submit nominations as soon as possible, such as after a successfully run event or sporting achievement while it's still fresh in your mind.

To encourage families to attend Australia Day events throughout the region, the popular 'Australia Day Baby Certificates' will once again be available to all families that celebrate the birth of a new arrival between 16 January 2016 and 15 January 2017.  An application form can be downloaded here or collected at any Council office or library.  Applications for 'Australia Day Baby Certificates' close Sunday, 15 January 2017.   Don't forget, these certificates can only be collected at your local Australia Day event.

Mayor Rachel Chambers said the Awards are a time to celebrate and acknowledge those outstanding individuals and organisations that have made a significant contribution to their community.

"It is very important that we recognise and acknowledge the contributions individuals and community groups make to the fabric of our community.  Council encourage all residents to nominate an individual or group who has made a significant contribution to their local community and/or achieved exceptional results in sporting, volunteering or cultural endeavours, Mayor Chambers said.
