SunWater has advised that improvement works are being carried out on the primary spillway of Paradise Dam to maintain efficient and safe operation during extreme weather events.

The Dam is safe under current conditions and the works are a preventative measure to ensure it continues to function as designed.

SunWater regularly conducts dam improvement projects in accordance with the national industry guidelines to maintain safe and efficient dam operation.

Improvement works include:

  •  strengthening the base of the primary spillway;
  •  downstream protection of the left hand side dam wall;
  •  construction of an access and drainage culvert.

Construction will commence on Paradise Dam in May 2016 and is expected to be complete by the end of 2016.

Public access to the boat ramp, picnic facilities and camping areas will not be affected. Only occasional minor traffic disruptions are expected.

SunWater customers immediately downstream of the Dam will experience minor disruptions to water supply, however water demand will be managed via small ongoing releases.
